One-Day Tours From Chitina to McCarthy

If you only have one day to visit Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, you can see the glaciers and historic copper mining town of Kennicott, near the center of the park, on our Full-Day Trip to McCarthy, AK from Chitina or Kenny Lake.

This 12.5 hour tour from Chitina gives you eight hours at McCarthy and Kennicott, in the beautiful, glacier-filled Wrangell Mountains. And our Full-Day Trip with Root Glacier Hike makes it easy to add the popular guided glacier hike to your one-day trip.

Travel by van on a narrow gravel road, built on the old railway of the Copper River and Northwestern Railroad. Watch for wildlife and observe relics from the historic railroad. The 2.5 hour drive from Chitina to McCarthy is an adventure into the heart of Wrangell-St. Elias National Park.

Spend the day at McCarthy and Kennicott. You’ll have time for lunch, shopping, and an additional tour, such as the Kennicott Mill Town Tour, Flightseeing, or a Guided Hike on the Root Glacier.
